SPRING 2005 NEWS
It’s been rockin’ across the river at the ‘Ville in Weehawken NJ. The
studio features a MAD Labs Neve VR-60 console and a Steinway
baby grand piano. Session highlights include:
Stevens Multimedia, based at Stevens Institute of Technology in
Hoboken NJ, launched a new student run record label, Castle Point
Records, as part of their Music & Technology curriculum led by David
Musial. The label signed two NYC-area bands, Last Perfect Thing
and John Connor, to record and mix tracks at the ‘Ville. Rob
Harari teamed up with the multi-award winning guitarist Carlos Alomar
to produce the sessions. Carlos also contributed some amazing guitar
tracks to the bands’ music. Rob engineered and Christopher Speich
assisted on the sessions. Castle Point Records’ dual cd/dvd disc titled
“Delusions of Grandeur” is scheduled for release in October 2005.
The Brooklyn NY band Kittyhawk recorded basic tracks for their
upcoming release “From The Mouths of Babes” on Curious Records. The
project is produced by Pier Giacalone. Rob Harari engineered the
sessions and John Adams assisted.
Swingadelic, an eleven piece ‘little big band’ has taken on
recording for not one, but two cd’s for release later this year. Led by
Dave Post the ensemble is comprised of metro area jazz, Broadway
and blues players and has performed at NJ PAC, Lincoln Center and many
dance gigs. This swingin’ jazz and blues band can be seen and heard on
alternate Mondays at Maxwell’s in Hoboken NJ.
On the live sound front, Rob Harari provided his audio expertise
for the much anticipated return of David Broza who performed a
Centennial Celebration concert at the United Synagogue in Hoboken. The
sold-out audience was thrilled when the Israeli guitarist/composer was
joined on stage by the percussionist Cyro Baptista and Spyro
Gyra members Jay Beckenstein on sax and Julio Fernandez
on guitar. It was a performance that transcended cultural and musical
boundaries.
